Do you participate in marathons?
Not as a rollerblading club, but we do have members who skate in marathons on their own. If you want to skate in marathons, check out the Links page. Here, you'll find a new category called Marathons.
Do you stress fitness on your rolls?
Yes, definitely! Our approach is to build strength and endurance with a series of fifty-six, high-energy workouts over a four-month period. To further this end, the rolls are held three times a week, and every week throughout the summer, including long weekends. So, we provide an upper leg and core strength element via the number of rolls, the continuity of the rolls from week-to-week, and the distance of our Sunday rolls, each of which is now 30+ kilometres in length during the months of July, August, and September. In addition, to enhance cardiovascular endurance, this season we will be introducing faster paced, interval skating at 3/4 speed, as well as sprints over short distances, where appropriate, on flat, straight stretches.
How long does each roll take to complete?
Each roll takes between 1.5 to 3 hours to complete round trip. Tuesday and Thursday rolls are shorter and take about 1.5 to 2 hours, while Sunday rolls are longer and take from 2.5 to 3 hours or more round trip. Sometimes, it depends on how many legs of a trail that you decide to roll.
Can you get water on the trails?
Sometimes, but on some trails, fountains can be few and far between. We recommend you carry water with you on the trails.
What do you do after your rolls?
We are a group made up of people/friends who love to socialize during and after each roll. We typically go for food and drink after each roll and it is not uncommon for member to get together for social events outside of the club.
Do you provide lessons?
Yes, we work with local instructor, Stephen Fisher, to provide lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced rollerbladers. As a group, we are able to obtain group discounts for lessons. Please let us know about your interest in lessons and what level you are at. For more information about lessons by Stephen Fisher, go to: http://inlineskatinginstruction.yolasite.com
Can I bring children with me?
Members can bring their children along if in a crunch, but members are responsible for taking care of their own children. Having children along may mean you cannot keep up with the rest of the group. All members of our inline skating club are twenty-one years of age or older.
